Non-Surf

Rincón and the area isn't all about surf! From epic snorkeling and deep-sea fishing, to mountain drives and waterfall hikes, there is plenty to keep both surfers and non-surfers stoked for weeks!

★ Snorkeling ★

To/From Hola Paradise

Epic snorkeling can be found at Steps beach, part of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. The majestic - and threatened - Elkhorn Coral is on full display here. Teeming with fish, the vibrant reef also sees an abundance of fan coral, eels, Hawksbill turtles, and even the occasional manatee. (snorkels, masks & adjustable fins provided by Hola Paradise)

★ Waterfall ★

While this spot feels well off the beaten path, in fact it's only a few minutes drive from the 115, Rincón's main road. A great place for photographs, a refreshing dip on a hot summer day, or - for those so inclined - some rock jumping. We're told that it can be quite dangerous. Hence the name, El Ultimo Brinco. Translation: The Last Jump. Caution is advised, and it's always a good idea to watch some locals jump first.

★ Deep-Sea Fishing ★

With waters blessed with beauties like Blue Marlin, Dorado (a/k/a Mahi Mahi; pictured) & Wahoo, Puerto Rico is prepared to deliver a world class deep-sea expedition. Upon request, we're happy to recommend to reserved guests a beautiful - and affordable - boat that's captained by an awesome, bilingual skipper. For those wanting something less than a full day of fishing, his flexible itineraries allow for a mix of fishing, snorkeling, whale watching, etc.

★ Mountain Drive ★

It's a surreal feeling to depart the sun-drenched coastline and find yourself less than an hour later in the depths of a cool, cloud-shrouded rain forest. Such it is when you head south from Hola Paradise towards Mayaguez and hop on the small, zigzagging roads that make up the famous Ruta Panoramica. Research is recommended. Dip in a roadside pool? Hike to a waterfall? Visit a working coffee farm? It's all here! Through it all, though, the drive itself remains the star of the show.

★ Be Local ★

Our grassroots community offers a plethora of ways to really engage. To "be local." Topping the list is Thursday evening's Art Walk in the pueblo (downtown). Support local artists, eat handcrafted cuisine, enjoy some live music, drink local cervezas. It's fun and it's a great way to meet the community. Rincón's heart pulses here. The same spot plays host to a Sunday morning farmer's market. Aguada's Saturday market is a hybrid, flea meets farmers. Absorb the culture, meet the wonderful people, find something amazing to bring home!
